The Slovenian Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka Welcomes a Remarkable Sports Ambassador
April 27, 2025 – Yesterday, the Slovenian Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka shone with a very special moment. We had the honor of welcoming world-renowned Japanese ski jumper Sara Takanashi, who has long considered Slovenia her second home.
Spending half of each year training in Slovenia's iconic Planica, Sara was invited by the United Nations to speak at the UN Pavilion, where she shared her thoughts on sustainable development in sports and her role in shaping a better future for generations to come.
At this occasion, Sara also visited the Slovenian Pavilion, expresing her deep affection for Slovenia – its stunning landscapes, warm-hearted people, and outstanding culinary traditions. We gave her a personal tour of the Pavilion, where she was especially drawn to our interactive sports display, exploring Slovenia's rich athletic heritage.
As a token of our appreciation, we gifted Sara a boutique bottle of wine, contributed by the Podravje Region, the first Slovenian region to be featured at Slovenian Pavilion. In the months ahead, other regions will follow, collectively telling the diverse and vibrant story of Slovenia.
Sara Takanashi's visit stands as powerful symbol of the close sporting and cultural ties between Japan and Slovenia – two nations united by a passion for winter sports and shared commitment to sustainability.
Yesterday's event marks the beginning of an inspiring journey of connection, one that we will continue to build throughout EXPO 2025 – linking cultures, people, and visions for a better world.
